This term our learning context has been 'Art for Art's Sake'. Our children have been both learning about the works of various renowned artists, and learning about themselves as budding artists.
The energy around the school has been amazing. The creativity of our children and their enthusiasm for learning has been obvious.
This week we are celebrating our learning with an Art Exhibition. I walked down to the hall to see how the preparations were going and was blown away with the quality of what I saw.
The amount of talent we have in our school was clear to see, not just in patches but all through the exhibition. It again reminded me that nurturing the artistic side of people is an important part of their education. The arts adds such vibrancy and joy to life.
It was also great to see the variety of media the children explored in creating their artworks. I hope that in viewing each others work the children will be inspired about what is possible and will continue to develop their artistic talents.
Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up. ~Pablo Picasso

The potential of Blogs for our school
Blogs will help us make connections with others. We can connect with our families and the wider community. Exciting times ahead.
At the end of last term, one of our ex students, Minou Van Vliet, took me for a flight from the Whenuapai Air Base. It was an amazing experience. Thanks Minou!

This is the first blog from me
We have been learning about the way a blog can help us (students and teachers) with our learning.
Steve from TTS has been teaching us what to do.
